PUBLISHING
BLACK COPPER approaches publishing as a form of cultural stewardship. Our work is rooted in the belief that books, magazines, and long-form publications are not simply products, but lasting records—spaces where art, writing, and history can live with care, context, and intention.
We are developing a publishing practice centered on artists and writers of African, Caribbean, Latin American, Indigenous, First Nations, Intercultural, and Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) heritage. Our focus is on projects that value depth over speed, editorial rigor over trend, and permanence over visibility alone.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Publishing, for BLACK COPPER, is an act of responsibility. We believe that how work is edited, designed, printed, and circulated matters just as much as the work itself. Our approach prioritizes close collaboration with artists and authors, thoughtful production decisions, and formats that honor both content and craft.
We are particularly invested in supporting emerging and early-career artists and writers at pivotal moments in their practices—when a publication can serve as both documentation and catalyst.
Each project is approached individually, with attention to editorial vision, design integrity, and long-term relevance.
