NEO MATLOGA
Neo Matloga (b. 1993, Mamaila, South Africa) is a painter based between South Africa and Amsterdam whose large-scale canvases document daily life in Black South African households with the epic weight of history painting. Working in charcoal, ink wash, and collage, Matloga constructs hybrid figures — faces assembled from friends, family, and public figures — to interrogate identity, community, and the persistence of intimacy under political pressure. His work titles primarily in Sepedi, his mother tongue.
