Tasha Dougé is an excavator of truths, a witness to histories, a vessel for memory. Her practice bends across mediums — guided by the urge to reveal, to question, to stir. Each work becomes an altar of inquiry, a space where the seen and unseen, the said and unsaid, converge.

She enters through the portals of her Blackness and womanhood — ancestral inheritances that ground her, ignite her, and call her to resist erasure. From this place she challenges the stories told about identity, history, and power. She reclaims symbols. She disrupts iconographies. She insists on the brilliance and abundance of Black life. From washboards reclaimed through Craigslist to an American flag made of braided hair and cotton, her work does not simply reflect the world — it confronts it, reshapes it, and dares to imagine what else can be.

In this moment of her practice, she is drawn to the mysteries of memory, the elasticity of time, and the wisdom of nature. How do we remember? What do we carry? How does the earth remind us of our own becoming? These questions pulse through her performances, installations, and gestures — weaving the intimate with the political, the ephemeral with the eternal.

Her voice is her first tool. Her compass and weapon. Her offering and insistence.
